ONHWP Inspections

A new home can be an exciting as well as a confusing and even scary venture, especially for the first timer. That is why Home Select Inspections recommends you engage a Professional Home Inspector to accompany you on your Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) of your new home.

There are a lot of items and systems to check and record the servicability of and you will want to accompany the builder representative and ensure all of the decorative items and any special requests and changes have been applied the way you want them. Let me conduct the house-systems inspection and provide you some peace-of-mind that you are getting what your hard-earned money paid for, so you can enjoy your new home.

There are a series of inspections to perform and warranty forms to complete when you purchase
a "new" home in Ontario. They are:

  • Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI);
  • 30 Day Form;
  • Year-End Form;
  • 2nd Year Form; and
  • Major Structural Defect Form.

There are other levels of Warranties in the ONHWP that you can get the details on from the Homeowner Information Package.

Not only is it recommended that you engage the services of a Professional Home Inspector to conduct the inspection, it is provided for by the ONHWP with their "Designate" declaration form and instructions in their Homeowner Information Package. You can have the Designate attend on your behalf, or with you, to conduct the PDI with the builder representative.
